The adopted kid

It’s a weird concept as I hate you but I would kill for you, you are my first enemy but I’ll love you anyway, I wouldn’t share the last slice of cake with you but it doesn’t stop me from buying something for you when dad takes me out.  Isn’t it the most stupid form of love? One moment it’s like “ Run for your life I am going to kill you “ and then it’s “Can you make me a dosa by generously spreading some clarified butter along with a pinch of homemade masala”. Why is it “he is the one who has hurt me the most, and yet he is the one who wants to keep me the safest” It’s always “I don’t love him” but “If the world was ending I would go over to him”. Today, my friend asked me ‘Isn’t it your brother’s birthday?? why haven’t you called and wished him?’ I laughed telling her I sent him a text and she gave me a disapproving expression as I stood there smiling while thinking about all those millions of unspoken wishes I had buried in between those “Happy birthday!!”
